What is non-linear thinking?

Non-linear thinking is a style of reasoning that moves between ideas by association and connection rather than in a strict, ordered sequence. Thoughts branch, loop back, and link across topics instead of proceeding step by step. Linear formats like ordered lists can constrain it, while spatial diagrams tend to match it better.

  • Ideas connect by association, not strict sequence.
  • Maps capture branches and cross-links a list can't show easily.
  • Order of capture doesn't have to match the final structure.

How Overscope relates

Overscope is designed for non-linear thinking: speaking out of order is fine, because the result is a branching map rather than a numbered list.
