What is a mind map?

A mind map is a diagram that places a central topic in the middle and radiates related ideas outward as branches, with sub-ideas branching further. It represents thinking spatially, so connections and hierarchy are visible at a glance instead of buried in paragraphs. Mind maps are commonly used for brainstorming, note-taking, planning, and studying.

  • A central node anchors the map; branches show how ideas relate to it.
  • Hierarchy and association are shown by position and connecting lines.
  • Maps can be edited after creation by tapping, dragging, adding, or deleting nodes.

How Overscope relates

Overscope generates mind maps from speech and offers six layouts, including the classic radial form where branches spread from a central node.
