Mind map vs outline: what's the difference?
A mind map is a two-dimensional diagram where ideas branch out from a center, making relationships and groupings visible spatially. An outline is a one-dimensional, indented list that arranges ideas top to bottom in a fixed sequence. Mind maps favor exploration and association; outlines favor linear order and detailed sequencing.
- Mind map: spatial, branching, good for seeing connections.
- Outline: vertical, indented, good for ordered detail.
- Overscope's outline is a layout of the map, not a separate document.
How Overscope relates
Overscope produces mind maps, not outline documents. It offers an outline layout as one way to view the map, but the underlying object is always a map.
